Directions

There are two roads out of Chios that will bring you to Volissos and Managros.

Routes to Managros and Volissos
The more direct route takes you over the mountains with dramatic changes in landscape, ranging from barren 'moonscapes' to fertile forests. As you begin the descent down towards Volissos there are breathtaking views of the sea and coastline below. Once out of the urban area of Chios, only one village lies on this route - Katavasi.

The second road, however, takes you past many places of interest including the monastery of Nea Moni and the lovely traditional village of Avgonima. After Avgonima, you start to drop down to the coast. A spectacular coastal drive takes you past many of the best beaches on the island. With a 1km detour from the road it is possible to explore the hilltop village of Sidirounda.

A little further on, the two Chios to Volissos routes meet.
Managros Rooms Entrance
After a couple of kilometres the sign for Managros can be seen at a large road junction. Take the road left towards the sea, follow it round to the right and just before it bends left up a small hill, Managros Rooms will be on your right.

Chios Town map showing routes to Volissos The 'red' route takes you through the back streets of residential Chios. If you take the 'blue' (more pleasant) route, follow the road along the coast past the windmills, the hospital and on until you reach Vrontados. You will see a Xara supermarket on your left and a KeyFoods supermarket in front, on the right. The turning up to Volissos is just past here - almost opposite another windmill. On both routes there are signposts to Volissos.
